I am not a fan of a lot of statistics especially when it becomes a discussion about extended care.
Why? People are in denial that it will ever happen to them or if it does, they will have family and sufficient funds for care giving.
The conversation is not about statistics, it is about the consequences that if you need care giving, how will this effect not only those who need care giving but those will be responsible for caregiving.
If facts are not helpful, ask yourself what are your responsibilities now and your responsibilities when you are in retirement for those you love and love you.
Sometimes a picture of statistics helps people to comprehend the cost of care giving.
