I always enjoy the Guild meetings. I've yet to be disappointed by the speaker or content.

There have been some very educational speakers at the LTC Guild that are excellent sources for our Industry and our businesses.

Just wanted all of you to know that our last Guild meeting with the Dept of Aging was an great source of information that my wife and I put to immediately use. As some of you might know we recently discovered that my Mother-in-law with Alzheimer's was being abused physically by being slapped and hit with a spoon for eating to slow. I know this kind of graphic and its very upsetting not knowing and my mother-in-law not being able to tell us. We immediately moved my mother-in-law and called the Dept on aging and they connected us to the Ombudsman. John Cole is our representative and has been very attuned to what is happening and is giving us great guidence. The ball has just started rolling on this and John says that our situation is a very serious one. On the upside of all this is that we because of the LTC Guild and our meeting with the Dept of aging, we did feel lost about what to do, we are being guided by people that care about the elderly and as a by product of our misfortune other LTC clients of this home will be protected by our investigation. My wife and I will attending meeting with the Dept of Aging or increase our knowledge on benefits and programs for the elderly. I have alrady been speading the word about the Dept of Aging and my wife and I are serious considering becoming volunteers with the Dept of Aging, but first we must care of the LTC responsibilities of both our parents. This year has been quite a jouney.
